Because other apps were too slow. Piaf was built in Rust. The immediate result is that it is much much faster than other desktop apps. Our second reason is that the founder loves to run in the mountains. Why waiting in front of a screen for Claude Code or other AI to compile code while we could be running in beautiful landscapes? We needed a mobile app to send precious time in our lives. So we created Piaf in order to give developers their time back.
Every tool we looked at was either too heavy, too slow, or too locked into a single AI provider. We wanted something that connects to Claude, Codex, OpenCode and more — without the bloat of Electron or the friction of a terminal.
So we started from scratch. Native Rust. Zero lag. Beautiful interface. And most importantly: multiuser from day one, because coding is better together.
